Moldova vignette online: how to buy it

The Moldovan vignette (vinieta) is electronic: there is no sticker – it is linked to the licence plate and the country of registration of the vehicle. You can therefore buy it online before you set off.

The steps of the order

1. Choose the period: 7, 15, 30, 90 or 180 days.
2. Choose the start day. The vignette is valid from 00:00 on that day until 24:00 on its last day.
3. Choose the vehicle type and the country of registration and enter the plate and the VIN.
4. Enter your name, passport number and passport country: the vignette is issued to the passport holder.
5. Enter your e-mail address, check the summary and pay. After payment we buy the vignette, usually within a few minutes; you receive the PDF confirmation by e-mail.

The plate: no hyphens, no spaces

The plate is typed as one string, without hyphens or spaces, even if your plate shows them (e.g. AB12 CDE → AB12CDE). Choose the country where the vehicle is registered, not your destination. With a wrong plate or country the vehicle may count as having no vignette – see Moldova vignette check and a wrong plate.

Who does not need a vignette

Vehicles registered in the Republic of Moldova do not need a vignette, so Moldova (MD) cannot be chosen as the country of registration. More in How the e-vignette works.

Buy before the border

Buy the vignette before you reach the border: according to the Moldovan customs service, buying it at the crossing makes the queues longer, for example at Giurgiulești and Sculeni.
