Moldova vignette check and a wrong plate

The e-vignette cannot be seen on the vehicle: it is checked by the plate and the country of registration in the database of the e-Vinieta system, even without stopping the vehicle.

What to check after buying

• Keep the confirmation e-mail: it shows the plate, the country and the period of validity.
• Compare the plate in the confirmation with the one on the vehicle, character by character (O and 0, for example).
• Check the country of registration: what counts is the country of the plate, not your destination.

A wrong plate or country

With a wrong plate or country the vehicle may count as having no vignette, because the inspecting authorities compare the data. A vignette is not cancelled automatically: after a mistyped plate it is possible, but the vehicle registration certificate and a supporting document are needed. Requests for a refund of the vignette fee go to the tax authority.
