Moldova vignette for transit to Ukraine
Last checked: 4 November 2026
The vignette is needed even if you only pass through the Republic of Moldova in transit with a foreign-registered vehicle.
Vehicles registered in Ukraine
The exemption for Ukrainian vehicles introduced after the start of the war ended on 10 January 2023. Since then, vehicles with Ukrainian plates need a vignette too. The extension of temporary protection for refugees does not change this.
Palanca: the Odesa–Reni road
The road between Odesa and Reni crosses Moldovan territory for about one kilometre at Palanca (between Maiaky and Udobne). According to Ukrainian travel guides, the vignette is needed for this short passage too, even if you spend less than an hour in Moldova. The same applies to the Reni–Giurgiulești stretch.
Which vignette to choose
- For cars the shortest vignette is the 7-day one (€4.50); there is no 1-day vignette.
- Enter the Ukrainian plate without spaces, in Latin letters (e.g. AA1234BB).
- Buy the vignette before you reach the crossing.
